My very first dish "black chickpeas" cooked by me

Here is another interesting story behind my cooking services, my first dish "black chickpeas". I learned that special recipe from my grandmother. One day she was cooking chickpeas, and I thought they are olives. So, I asked her that I want to taste. She gave me some and I really like it. That day I told my grandmother that one day I will cook for you. Therefore, I am writing my grandmother's chickpeas recipe.
Chickpeas Recipe cooked by Mandeep Kaur

Black Chickpeas

Ingredients:
  • Black Chickpeas 450 g (soaked overnight)
  • 4 tsp of oil
  • 2 medium size chopped onion
  • 6-7 garlic cloves
  • 2 tsp cumin powder
  • 2 tsp fresh red chillies
  • 1 tomato finely chopped
  • 1 tsp lemon  juice
  • 3 tsp salt
  • turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • fresh  mint leaves
  • fresh green chilies
 Recipe Instructions:

First of all, soaked the black chickpeas overnight and then put 4 tsp of oil in a pan. Add chopped onions in the pan. When onions are golden brown, mix 1 finely chopped tomato, six chopped garlic cloves and cooked them for 15-20 seconds. Then add 2 tsp cumin powder, 3 tsp salt, 2 tsp fresh red chillies. Finally, saute all of them for 15 minutes. Now add the soaked black chickpeas along with water, leave them on stove for 30 minutes. You can taste the salt, if you need more you can add according to your taste. When chickpeas are well cooked, serve them in a large dish, decorate them with fresh mint leaves and green chillies. On top of that, add few drops of fresh lemon juice to add the taste. You can serve these black chickpeas either with rice or "chapatti".

Health benefits of black chickpeas:

Studies have shown that "the iron, phosphate, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc and vitamin K content present in chickpeas all contribute to building and maintaining bone structure and strength.
Research shows that including chickpeas in the diet lowers the amount of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in the blood" (medicalnewstoday, n.d.).Chickpeas are not only healthy but also good in taste.I personally eat one cup of boiled chickpeas everyday.
